Itinerary

Day 1: Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, Saqqara and Dahshur Pyramids

This morning, your private guide will pick up you for a full day tour of the pyramids at Giza, Saqqara and Dahshur Pyramids. Start by visiting the Giza Plateau to explore the world famous pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, Mycrenos and Sphinx; these structures that have stood tall for 4500 years. Discover the beauty of the Sphinx, one of the largest monolith statues in the history of mankind, enjoy the views and take remarkable pictures. You’ll find your local Egyptology guide a wealth of knowledge and full of enthusiasm about Egyptian history, and their country in general.

After this great tour, you will have the chance to go to a papyrus institute to see how the Egyptians produced this genuine artwork thousands of years ago. Enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant.

Proceed to Saqqara, located only 27 km southwest away from Cairo. Visit the Step Pyramid (Built for King Zoser), the world’s oldest major stone structure, in Saqqara, it is considered an important part of the pyramid evolution, which were made from the simple mastaba to its widely known form. This pyramid was built during the reign of the Third Dynasty of Ancient Egypt 4,800 years ago. Also visit the Tombs of the Nobles in Saqqara and learn more about the daily life of ancient Egyptian noblemen.

You will continue to explore and then transfer to the south and visit the Red Pyramid and Bent pyramid at Dahshur. This is a famous royal necropolis in Egypt located in the desert on the West Bank of the Nile approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) south of Cairo. It is known chiefly for many famous pyramids two of which are among the oldest, largest and best preserved in Egypt, built from 2613–2589 BC; the red and bent Pyramids of King Snefru.

Finally, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo or Giza.

Day 2: Egyptian Museum, Cairo Citadel, Khan Al Khalili and Giza Light Show

Pick up at 8 am, then drive towards the Egyptian Museum of antiquities, home to the fantastic Tutankhamun exhibit, see his golden mask and many of the New Kingdom royal mummies, lose yourself in the many rooms and galleries full of thousands of artifacts.

Continue to the Citadel of Salah El Din, built on famous hill Al Moqattam in Cairo, that was constructed for military purposes, for protecting Cairo from incoming threats. Since then, it became a residence of the king of Egypt for many centuries. On this tour, you will visit the beautiful Mohamed Ali known as Alabaster Mosque. Political event called “Massacre of the Citadel” happened in the Citadel in 1811, where Mohamed Ali, the ruler of Egypt (1805-1849) murdered Mameluke leaders in Qaser El Gawhara palace, and it’s not currently opened for visits. Then, lunch at a local restaurant.

Cairo’s Khan al-Khalili Bazaar is a major souq in the historic center of Cairo, Egypt. The bazaar district is one of Cairo’s main attractions for tourists and Egyptians alike. It is an essential Egyptian experience – lose yourself in the colors and aromas of this fascinating marketplace.

In the evening, your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel for the evening Sound and Light show. Enjoy a whole new experience of the Pyramids of Giza by watching the Sound and Light Show—one of the best evening activities around Cairo. Learn about the history of the pyramids during the entertaining show and get close to the Sphinx and other pyramids to take pictures. At the end, drive back to your hotel in Cairo or Giza

Day 3: Coptic, Islamic Cairo and 2-Hour Felucca Ride on the Nile

Start with morning pick-up at 9:00 am, exploring some of the most famous churches in Cairo. Travel to the Hanging Church and the Church of St. George the Martyr. Both these churches were built into the walls of the Babylon Fortress and their remains could be Cairo’s oldest structures. Visit the Church of St Sergius next before driving back to your hotel.

The Mosque of Amr ibn al-As, also called the Mosque of Amr, was originally built in 641–642 AD, as the center of the newly founded capital of Egypt, Fustat. The original structure was the first mosque ever built in Egypt and the whole of Africa. Enjoy your lunch meal.

The Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan is a monumental mosque and madrassa located in the historic district of Cairo, Egypt. It was built between 1356 and 1363 during the Bahri Mamluk period, commissioned by Sultan an-Nasir Hassan.

Al-Rifai Mosque is located in Midan al-Qal’a, adjacent to the Cairo Citadel. It is the Khedival Mausoleum of the Royal Family of Muhammad Ali Pasha.
